iDebate is the publication of the International Debate Education Association (IDEA): a world leader in debate education, it gives young people a voice through resources, training and events, through schools and universities, debate organisations and community groups. A network co-ordinated by a central office in Brussels (IDEA Central), IDEA has offices in Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Netherlands, Tunisia, the United Kingdom and the United States. They operate within a wider network of partner foundations, NGOs, businesses, and governments across 60 countries.
Published annually, the iDebate magazine is distributed across the globe to its IDEA members; keeping them abreast of projects and news in the network.
Asked to re-look at what the magazine does and who it’s for, as well as the design and content, we completely redesigned the publication to help make iDebate more attractive to its core audience of 16-25 year olds.
Starting with a new masthead set in Berlingske Serif Display, we introduced a new typographic system combining Berlingske Serif Light with GT Walsheim Pro, bringing order and consistency to the page layout. iDebate articles are now supported with editorial illustration and photography in a range of styles. At 40 pages, the magazine is now smaller and more concise. Printed on 130gsm Fedrigoni Freelife Satin and loop-stitched bound, iDebate is now pocket sized, tactile and contemporary.
