The Voyage was commissioned in collaboration with our old friends BCA Landscape to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Liverpool’s Cunard Building and the transatlantic travel that helped shape the city's culture. This epically scaled series of public stone seats are over 50m long, stretching the full length of the Cunard building, was officially launched on 2 July 2016 by the Captain of 'Queen Elizabeth', Inger Klein Olsen (first ever female captain of a Cunard ship). The Voyage features artwork with beautiful and unique bronze illustrations and typography inspired by the fascinating history of Cunard.

Bringing the idea to life
The concept takes inspiration from the elegant Cunard Building using a combination of Art Deco influenced motifs and contemporary typography. This combination has created an engaging tactile tapestry, running across the tops of the benches, with the sides being adorned with some of the most famous ship names.
